Exclusive: CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS MADNESS to debut at AX 2025 and SDCC ’25

Dark Horse will release the prequel manga for the Netflix series in February

Since its release in 2020, the world of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 (based on the original TTRPG by Mike Pondsmith) has continued to expand, with a number of books published by Dark Horse Comics, and Netflix’s heartbreaking 2022 anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Now, both spin-offs are set to collide in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, a manga by Bartosz Sztybor (co-writer of the show) and Asano (BNA: Brand New Animal), which follows Rebecca and Pilar before the events of the anime. Vol 1. of the series, featuring an English translation by Stefan Kiełbasiewicz, and lettering by Brendon Hull, will be released by Dark Horse Manga in February. 

Rebecca grows up with her big brother Pilar as they pursue their shared dream of becoming a legendary edgerunner like their father. In the megalopolis of Night City, where obsessions with technology, violence, and power run rampant, they struggle, suffer, and cause chaos wherever they go! As they go about their daily lives, a mysterious man appears before them—changing the trajectory of their future. In this manga, a prequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, siblings Rebecca and Pilar’s lives are full of madness as they rush through Night City to prove themselves as edgerunners!

Additionally, a limited edition, single issue-style edition of the book’s first 40 pages, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Chapter 1, will be available this July, exclusively at Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con. This version, which needs to be read right-to-left, will have a print run of 2500 copies, each costing $25, and limited to only five for each customer a day. CD Projekt Red will sell the exclusive during Anime Expo (July 3-6) at their booth in South Hall 325, and then it will be available at SDCC (July 24-27) from Dark Horse’s booth #2615. CDPR will also discuss the manga at the Anime Expo panel Cyberpunk: Edgerunners–Behind the Scenes with its Creators, which will be held on July 4 at 2:15pm, in Petree Hall.

The full Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Vol. 1 will retail in paperback for $14.99 when it arrives in bookstores on February 24, 2026, and comic book shops the following day.
